Wearable weavings inspired by traditional North Western textiles and geography
About the artist
My love and need to explore this world is largely what drives my work, and much of my exploration geographically is translated and mapped in my jewelry.
Having a multimedia background in painting and printmaking, I began making jewelry as a way to combine the knowledge of these art forms to understand through color and design, the natural patterns of the world around me.
After exploring the process of printmaking in Santa Cruz, I moved to Kauai where I began making beaded jewelry as a way to continue to explore the creative process in a more tangible and interactive form.
Each design is uniquely handwoven with a needle and thread, no two pairs being exactly the same. Weaving has become my daily meditation, stitching each bead intentionally. My jewelry is interwoven with my perception of beauty in nature and the process of creation has allowed me to engage with my environment, both physical and beyond.
